Death of the artist’s wife, M.I. Volkova (Taratutina).

1924–1926
Heads a studio at the Arts Museum.

1926
Marries Elena Semionovna Volkova (born Melnikova), trusted companion, mother of his two sons, Valerij and Aleksandr.

1926
Works on a series of small scenes depicting traditional life. Devises a technique of applying tempera on plant glue and covering the finished work with varnish.

1927
Entered the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia.

1928
Birth of a son , Valerij, who grows up to become a painter, teacher and art critic.

1929
Organizes “Masters of the new East” Association with Mikhail Kurzin. Starts painting about life on collective farms.

1929–1941
Teacher at Tashkent technical art school.

1930
Joins the Tashkent painters’ group ARIZO.
