Organization of the so called “Volkov Brigade” with Ural Taksynbaiev, Nikolai Karakhan, Alexei Podkovyrov, P. Schegolev, B. Khamdami. The journalist I. Ustimenko (Iras’) became the team’s ideologist.

1934
Trip to Moscow to attend an exhibition. The Tretyakov Gallery bought one of Volkov’s paintings from the show.

1934
“Midday in Shakhimardan” is included in an exhibition of Soviet art in Philadelphia, the first time the artist’s work has been shown overseas.

1934–1936
Launch of the anti-formalist campaign. Volkov is accused of being a formalist.

1937
Birth of a son Aleksander, who is to become a painter, sculptor and teacher.
